Possibilities Not Problems.
Nicholas A. Joanow RSS
While having a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Restaurant Management from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I., Mr. Joanow has been employed as a substitute teacher and then as a teacher’s assistant by the East Orange School District for three years. After discovering his love for teaching, Mr. Joanow decided to become a full time teacher. This is his sixth  year teaching at Cicely L. Tyson Elementary School and he currently teaches second grade.
When not in school, Mr. Joanow enjoys cooking for his friends and family and is passionate about fishing. He also remains active locally in his hometown located in Morris County, New Jersey.
     Mr. Joanow’s teaching philosophy:
Learning in a classroom can be achieved by all individuals. The passion and enthusiasm that I have will create excitement inside and outside of the classroom. We will learn everyday; we grow socially, emotionally, and mentally. The opportunity to achieve greatness will be presented to each student that enters our classroom. We will come to class everyday not only with expectations to do well but to shatter those expectations by exceeding and setting goals higher and higher everyday. We may have setbacks, but we will learn together to be resilient and rise to the occasion. We will do these things by relating our life and work experiences into lessons each day and by interacting to create a safe and productive learning environment for all.
